Jesse George Janos better known by his nickname “The Body” Ventura, was born July, 15, 1951. He has been a professional wrestler, Navy UDT veteran, actor, former governor of Minnesota, television and radio talk show host and an American politician.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1969. The stage name of Jesse “The Body” Ventura was created from the persona of tough beach body building and the name Ventura came from a map of California.
Jesse describes himself as Slovak coming from a father whose family was from Slovakia and a mother who was German.
During the Vetnam War era from September of 1969 until September of 1975 he served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Underwater Demolition Team 12 which merged with the Navy Seals in 1983. This was eight years after Ventura left the Navy. A San Diego attorney by the name of Brad Salisbury who was also a former Navy Seal officer wrote that he felt Ventura was “pretending” and was blurring a very definite distinction in saying that he was a Naval Seal when he was actually a frogman and they saw less action. Jesse’s spokesman stated that he never tried to convince people otherwise. He stated: “Today we refer to all of us as Seals, that’s just how it is.”
In 1973 Ventura nearing the ending of his Naval career began to spend time with the “Dago” South Bay chapter of the outlaw motorcycle club, the Mongols was a full patched member of the San Diego chapter. Hee would ride into the Naval Base Coronado on his Harley and wearing his Mongol colors. According to Ventura he was a full patch member of the club and even third in command. He had avoided any problems with authorities although the club was involved in some criminal ventures. He left the club in the Fall of 1974 when shortly after the club went into a warfare with the their rivals the Hells Angels.
In 1975 he married his wife Terry and have two grown children a boy, Tyrel, born in 1980 and a girl named Jade born in 1983.
Jesse was in the movie Predator in 1987 with future California Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggger and future Kentucky Gubernational Candidate Sonny landham. Sven-Ole Thorsen was in Running Man also in the Predator and did Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe(1991), and Batman & Robin (1997) with him as well. He was also in two episodes of Zorro filmed in Spain and did a cameo on a episode of X-Files. He has a filmed a movie named Woodshop which was released in September of 2010.
In 1998 Jesse won the Minnesota guberational election running on the Reform Party and was elected the 38th governor. He ran from January, 3, 1999 until January, 4, 2003 and did not seek a second term.
He is best known for his tenure in the World Wrestling Federation as a combatant and a color commentator. In 2004 he was inducted into the company’s Hall Of Fame.
Ventura has written four books: I Ain’t Got Time to Bleed, Do I Stand Alone? Going to the Mat Against Political Pawns and Media Jackals. He has been a member of the Independence Party of Minnesota from the year 2000 to the present.
Jesse has made many outspoken remarks such as his interview on Larry King Live in May 2009 where he stated that George W. Bush had been the worst president of his lifetime. He added that Bush had left Obama with something Ventura wouldn’t visit on his worst enemy. In May also when interviewed by Sean Hannity of Fox News and asked how he felt George W. Bush could have avoided the September 11th attacks he answered, “Well, you pay attention to memos on August 6th that tell you exactly what bin Ladan is going to do.”
In August 2009 TruTv announced that Ventura would host the new show Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory and when in December 2 it debuted to 1.6 million viewers, a record for a new show on that network.
Jesse Ventura is currently living in Mexico and says he is totally off the grid.
