Celebrity Marriages That Ended in Death - Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Yoko Ono and John Lennon

Trivia for 2 celebrity couples whose marriages ended in death: Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Yoko Ono and John Lennon.

Marriage vows typically include “till death do us part”. For some, it is the inevitable entrance to the ball and chain. However for some, it is an incredibly romantic notion.

I have covered many celebrity relationships: the ones that ended because of cheating, the happy couples and the break-ups we never saw coming. This is a trivia article for the celebrity marriages that ended because one of the spouses died.

John Lennon - Yoko Ono

Yoko Ono was born in 1933, in Tokyo. She had a very complicated life, including surviving the World War 2 bombings, moving from-to- from Japan, a stay in mental institution, various jobs, a marriage and a daughter and art shows- all before meeting John Lennon. To many fans, she is seen as one of the main reasons The Beatles broke up.

They met in 1966 at one of her art shows. They got married in 1969 and the band officially broke up a year later. From then on, they were inseparable. They survived many more tragedies and complicated events, including Yoko’s ex-husband and her daughter. Their marriage ended in 1980, when Lennon was shot.
